Why You Should Establish Real Relationships With Your Affiliates

Starting your own affiliate program is a fairly straight forward process. There are plenty of third party services and self hosted software to choose from and once you understand how your affiliate system works, it’s easy to implement. You can even have someone else implement your affiliate program for you. But, from a strictly behavioral perspective, getting people to actually promote your products and services isn’t an automatic given.

Here is good advice from Shawn Collins, Co-Founder of Affiliate Summit. Shawn reminds us that making connections with affiliates is an important part of getting them active.

We also have to remember that affiliates come in all shapes and sizes. Some are brand new to affiliate marketing and don’t really know how to start marketing your products. Some have been at it for a while and just need access to their account in the affiliate system. Some are super affiliates who pick and choose who they want to promote.

If you want to go after this last group of people, you might want to read, “How Do I Get Big Affiliates To Promote My Product” by Daniel Scocco over at Daily Blog Tips. His article gives practical tips on how to get big affiliates to pay attention to you and want to promote your product.

The overall theme from both of these experts is that running an affiliate program is all about relationships.
