As Director of Express Submit I am proud of my success in placing 100% of my clients on the first page of Google Local on important keyword searches, and I would like to share some of my secrets about keyword optimization. While there isn’t space to detail all the techniques I use and describe in my eBook, “4 Hours to a First Page Listing on Google Local” keyword optimization, I would like to put down some of the most important principles which every businessman should keep in mind when making his keyword list.
The number one secret, which I can’t overly stress, is to be diligent, and thoughtful, but not too clever. Appreciate that Google and other major search engines are programmed by human beings, who are committed to insuring that Internet searchers find what they are looking for. The people who create search engine algorithms are formulating mathematical equations to serve that very purpose. They take into consideration all the clues they can think of to determine what services a given business is offering, they also look for negative clues to rule out services a business is not offering.
The primary task of any businessman seeking a high listing, therefore, is to decide and prioritize the exact type of jobs he wants to be found for. And then, of course, to use appropriate keyword tools to complete his &KEYWORD2%. By “not being too clever,” I mean to imply that businessman should not focus too much on hunting after “popular keyword choices,” and “underused keywords,” at the expense of using the very keywords that describe the very services they provide. For one thing, most savvy businessmen are using online classifieds on a daily and weekly basis to promote their business.
They are filling their ads with a description of their most important services. If they have a web site, then those very words will hopefully be appearing on the web site as well. So when a search engine such as Google processes the businessman’s local list submission, the recurrence of certain words over and over again on the web in association with the business’ name will give the businessman’s listing a boost in competition against other business owners. On the other hand, in choosing specific words that apply to a business it is important not to be too general. While it is possible to get listed as handyman in many places, it is just as important if not more valuable for a handyman who loves to do kitchen remodeling to list that service as well. More specific and multiple word keyword terms are definitely more and more popular as Internet users are more and more comfortable with online searches.
