It’s nice to have a name
Hugh MacLeod captured the essence of a lot of people in the image above. This is the difference between the person who is constantly spouting “what if…..”, and the person who responds with, “that’s impossible”.
When working a project, I can weed out the good programmers from the bad rather easily. Bad programmers say, “you can’t do that”. Good programmers say something like, “I don’t know how to do that”. Really good programmers say, “let me go try that”.
If you don’t know how to do something, don’t tell me it can’t be done. The last time that happened, I went off and programmed the application feature myself, and presented it to the programmer and his boss.
Tell me its expensive, difficult, time-consuming, or delusional, but don’t tell me “you can’t do that”.
I’m an entrepreneur, damn it. Go give your excuses to someone else.
